New Halloween Pattern: Meet Peanut the Bat!

Two pictures of a crocheted bat on a white background, one with outstretched wings, one with wings wrapped around itself

“Peanut is a long-haired fruit bat from the mountain forests of Kenya. She’s just discovered that bats are commonly part of something called “Halloween” – she’s not quite sure what it’s all about, but it seems to involve lots of yummy sweet treats! That said, she would prefer a nice piece of fruit the rest of the year (bananas are her favourite!)”

This spooky sweet pea has similar origins to my Ollie the Owl pattern - it was first made as a prize for a Halloween treasure hunt for my family. The original bat was placed in a little cauldron, along with some Halloween chocolates, for my sister to find. (See here for another Halloween treasure hunt idea). To make Peanut, I made the design for the Halloween prize twice as big, and added more details to the wings. I also added some craft wire along the arms of the wings to make them bendable, so she can curl them up!

Make your very own bat with this Halloween pattern! This will be the last pattern for 2024, but I have a few more ideas for next year, so stay tuned!

Make Peanut the Bat your next crochet project today! You can buy this pattern as a downloadable PDF on Etsy or Ravelry, or find more information on the pattern here.

Happy Crafting!
