New Pattern: Meet Skye the Squirrel!
“Skye is a red squirrel from the coniferous forests of Scotland. A bashful lass, she will hide away when you first approach her, but once you get to know each other, you’ll find she likes to play and be silly with you. She’ll even show you where to find the best nuts!”
The inspiration for this little darling came when my mum saw a picture in a pattern book (Cozy Crocheted Slippers by Leisure Arts) of a pair of crocheted slippers that had been made fluffy by working them in loop stitch and cutting and brushing the loops. “That would look good on a squirrel’s tail” she said. And I simply had to test her theory! I also added some ‘loop stitch’ tufts to the ears, like a real red squirrel!
You can use this pattern to make your very own fluffy squirrel! I have lots more ideas for amigurumi animal patterns (including some for Halloween), so keep an eye out for those!
