Birthday Flower Wreath

For this Christmas just gone, my nan got me a book of flower crochet patterns: All-New Twenty to Make: Flowers to Crochet by Sarah-Jane Hicks. So as a present for her birthday this week, I thought I’d use that book to make her a wreath of some of her favourite flowers!

The flowers I used in this wreath:

  • Top-right: Rose (pg. 22)

  • Top-left: Pansy (pg. 44)

  • Bottom-left: Sweet Peas (pg. 32)

  • Bottom-right: Lily of the Valley (made from the Bluebell pattern on pg. 20, but making each flower shorter by taking out a couple of rows)

To make the ring base of the wreath, I took some coils of craft wire (easy to find on sites like Amazon) and loosely wound three colours of yarn around them - first brown, then dark green, then light green - to create a “woven grasses” effect. I also added a simple green ribbon from which the wreath can be hung on a door or wall.

Why not have a go at these patterns yourself, and make your own birthday gifts for the special people in your life?

Happy Crafting!
