Welcome to Koalamea Crafts!

Nine crochet hooks arranged in a fan shape in rainbow order

When I was eight years old, my mum sat down with my sister and me, gave us each a crochet hook that had once belonged to her grandmother and taught us how to make what I later found out was a granny square.

If she’d only known what she’d started.

After that, I was (if you’ll pardon the pun) hooked. I would take any opportunity to crochet something – gifts for family members, outfits for dolls. My room became adorned with an assortment of small woollen animals. Sometimes I’d make things from other people’s patterns and sometimes I’d make up my own design. But it wasn’t until April 2021 that I thought “Hey, I should write some of these down.” And it wasn’t until last year that I thought “Wouldn’t it be cool if there were somewhere I could share these patterns with other crocheters?”

Well, this is that somewhere. With Koalamea Crafts, I hope to share my crochet patterns, old and new; to help those who are just starting out with the knowledge I’ve picked up over the years; and to talk about other projects I happen to be working on, so that perhaps what is inspiring me, can inspire you too.

Wherever you are, whatever your experience level, I hope you find something here that can contribute to your little woollen corner of the world.

Happy Crafting!
