Net Effect Baubles

A group of five crocheted baubles of different sizes and colours in front of gold tinsel on a mantelpiece

Consisting of a central white ball with an external net of chain stitch, these baubles are a simple but pretty festive decoration for your tree or mantelpiece. As the net is removable, you could make more than one net and interchange them, so your baubles will go with any colour scheme!

For this pattern you will need:

  • {5g/10g/15g} white DK yarn for the centre ball

  • {6m/9m/12m} DK yarn in your choice of colour(s) for the net

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook (UK 9, US E/4)

  • Stuffing

  • Darning needle

  • Any crochet hook smaller than 3.5 mm to weave in loose ends

  • Stitch markers to keep track of the end of your most recent round

  • Around 24cm length of yarn in any colour for hanging the bauble (optional)

Three sizes in pattern: about 6/7/9 cm wide (including net) and 5/6.5/9.5 cm tall (not including hanging loop).

Difficulty: no complex stitches or sewing pieces together. For a multicoloured net, you may need to change yarn colours, which is a little fiddly with the chain stitches.
